I am sure that by now the rigours and anxiety of the deadlines and due dates would be at rest for some time. It is a much deserved breather as we gear up for the new season of new compliances and the dates thereof. We are in the midst of a very interesting phase for us as professionals with opportunities galore and more particularly as we continue to be the custodians of good governance for all whom we represent.
The Banking and Finacial services sector continues to be the backbone of every economy and like every year we have our Regional Banking Conclave this month. The conclave is structured by incorporating the contemporary and current topics showcasing the specific areas of focus for members who are practicing or associated as executives in the Banking and Financial sector. This conclave has been designed observing the prevailing financial, industrial and professional scenario.

I stand proud to state that as a testimony of our support in training the regulatory bodies, Shri Guljari Lal the Hon’ble Dir.Gen. (Audit) (C) has recommended to their apex to consider ICAI as their official knowledge partners and trainers for Goods and Services Tax across the Country. This is a matter of great privilege for us.
Our respected members in business and industry continue to hoist the flag of ICAI with utmost esteem. The SMEs have always been the backbone of any developing economy, and we are no different. The SMEs have played a great role in ensuring that socialistic goals like equality of income and balanced regional development are carried out as envisaged. With their small investments in comparison to the various large scale private and public enterprises, the SMEs are found to be more efficient in providing more employment opportunities at relatively lower cost. It was apt for us to celebrate and acknowledge the milestones of our members who have achieved great laurels for excellence in their respective fields. The ICAI SME Awards function was celebrated amidst great fanfare and attendance. We thank the elite galaxy of our distinguished jury members for a very transparent process and compliments to all who were conferred with the coveted awards.
We had a chance to interact with the Shri Gautam Chatterjee, IAS (Retd.), Chairman, MahaRERA, and he was very upbeat about the role that is and will always be played by Chartered Accountants in the success of this landmark legislation of the state.
We hosted officers from the Hon’ble Collector’s office to promote our members and students to enrol their names in the general electoral list for the upcoming elections. They were happy with the interaction with students and the interest they showed in the entire process.
An interactive meeting on technical issues on TDS with Smt. Anuradha Bhatia, Pr. CCIT, Mumbai, Shri Pratap Singh, Commissioner, IT, Mumbai, Shri V.K. Gupta, Commissioner, IT, Mumbai, and we are particularly thankful to Shri Sunil Sharma, Commissioner, TDS, Ghaziabad, for addressing all the issues during this meeting.
As we are aware, the dates of upcoming elections of ICAI have been notified and I earnestly request members to support the candidates by proactively casting their vote and encouraging the other members also to do the same. Its needles to say that - Every single vote counts.
Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social wellbeing. In our quest and race for professional excellence we keep neglecting our health, happiness and the quality time with family and friends. Let’s have a proper demarcation of time between work and leisure to ensure we always give our best at every platform.
I take this opportunity to wish all my Colleagues, Members, Students and their families a very Happy Diwali. May the festival of lights fill everyone’s lives with happiness, joy, peace and prosperity.
With Best Wishes,
CA. Sandeep K.C. Jain
