“Life is filled with difficult decisions, and winners are those who make them.”
— Dan Brown.
My Dear Students,
Today, I want to give you an insight into the power of decisions.
We are all aware of how humans, despite being physically inferior to many species, have thrived for millennia, ascending to the top of the food chain. Our unique strength lies not in physical prowess but in our ability to think, to reason, and to make rational, calculated decisions.
Indeed, our remarkable journey through life is profoundly influenced by our decision-making prowess, coupled with our vision and dreams. Think about it:
Gandhi envisioned a free India, Bill Gates set out not only to create exceptional software but to lead the world in software, Sachin Tendulkar aspired to become the finest cricketer, and Steve Jobs melded cutting-edge technology with minimalist design. These visionary decisions transformed not only their lives but the way we perceive and function in this world.
Now, we all make decisions in our lives. So, what sets these great individuals apart from the rest of the masses? It's the nature of the decisions we make. If your decision as students is to pass exams and become a Chartered Accountant, rest assured, sooner or later, whether this year or the next, you will achieve that milestone.
But if you decide not only to pass exams but to enter the merit list, to earn that coveted AIR, then your decision will boost your efforts to an entirely different level. Your commitment to excellence will prompt you to make incremental decisions: decisions not to squander precious time, strategies to excel, and a series of smaller goals that lead to the ultimate triumph. You'll also develop contingency plans to navigate challenges like illness or unforeseeable circumstances.
Yes, these are the decisions that alter your life's trajectory and revolutionize your way of thinking. This is precisely the kind of thinking that WICASA of WIRC aims to instill in you. We're committed to nurturing individuals who not only know how to set and achieve their goals but are also grounded in a strong foundation of unwavering principles.
One Day Seminars

One Day Regional Seminar on GST: Organised by WICASA of WIRC and hosted by the Nagpur Branch of WIRC of ICAI and Nagpur Branch of WICASA of ICAI, this one day Regional Seminar on GST comprised multiple technical sessions which covered all the aspects relevant to CAs ranging from issues related to GST Returns and details of Form 9 & 9C to Decoding Input Tax Credit. Members in attendance appreciated the depth of subject matter disseminated at this Seminar.
Unleash your True Potential: WICASA organized this free event in order to help CA students create a stronger mind-set for their exams. First presentation focused on “Unleash your true potential to crack the code of CA exams with a positive mindset along with your hard work. Understand and apply it through simple tools & techniques to multiply your efforts.” This topic gave a new spin on how to use the power of positive thinking and application of techniques to help students’ efforts. The second presentation highlighted ‘How to Tackle CA Exam’ followed by a discussion on ‘CA Course Syllabus’. The outcome of these lectures was that students were pleased to receive insights into techniques to help them become stronger and more positive enabling them to give exams with confidence.
Industrial Visits
Liebherr: A wholly owned subsidiary of Liebherr-Hausgeräte GmbH, Germany, Leibherr India produces high-end refrigeration appliances tailored to suit the Indian market & nearby countries. Students were introduced to the running of this plant and their questions were answered to help them better understand the business of running a manufacturing operation.
Skoda Automotive: Renowned across India for its cars, students got a glimpse into various aspects such as supply chain and operations which go into the manufacturing and retailing of an international car manufacturer.
Mock Tests
Special Counselling Session for Nov 23 Mock Test Series II: This special session was organized in ‘Physical Cum Virtual Mode’ and focused on ‘Exam Strategies and Handling Exam Stress’ and provided ‘Counselling on Mock Test Series II held for Nov 23 Exam’ to help all students be mentally and academically prepared to give their best shot for their exams.
CA Final Mock Test Series II for December 23 Exam: This comprehensive nine day mock test series ensured that students were given tests covering all the papers including 6A to 6F. The students’ confidence was raised at the end of this series of mock tests.
CA Intermediate Mock Test Series II for December 23 Exam: All the eight Intermediate papers were given on a daily basis to Intermediate students to boost their morale in giving exams and ensure that they are mentally ready to give the exam with confidence.
Industrial Trainee Placement Program: WICASA organized this full day placement programme for CA students wishing to be trained to get real world experience of the profession. The interest of the students is an indicator that this is a popular programme which we will organise regularly in the future.
Cleanathon: WIRC professionals serve both their stakeholders and the nation. Inspiring students to work together, WICASA organized a ‘Cleanathon’ to clean up Juhu Beach. Students pitched in with enthusiasm and ensured the beach was clean for all visitors. I laud these efforts by our students to give back to society in their own way.
WIRC Garba Festival: WIRC organized a Garba Festival for all students as well as their families at ICAI Tower, BKC. There were many prizes to be won and students enjoyed themselves thoroughly with their friends and families.
As a past student myself and having walked the path that many of you are on, I wish to make you aware that the path to success is seldom a straight one. It's filled with ups and downs, and only those who can navigate these challenges with resilience and unyielding dedication will ultimately triumph.
Your academic journey is a stepping stone towards your professional career. It's a journey that will require sacrifice, continuous learning, and, above all, a belief in your own capabilities. Each one of you has the potential for greatness, and it's within your reach.
So, as someone who believes in your abilities, I encourage you to keep pushing forward. Be your own source of motivation, set high standards for yourself, and consistently put in the effort required to achieve your goals. Your success in this field, as in any endeavor, is not solely determined by the marks on your exams. It's determined by your commitment, resilience, and willingness to learn from your experiences.
I have every confidence that with determination and hard work, each one of you will rise above any challenge and ultimately achieve the success you deserve. Your journey is far from over, and it's in the face of adversity that the most remarkable success stories are written.
Believe in yourselves, stay motivated, and keep working hard. The world of accounting is waiting for your contributions, and I have no doubt that you will make a lasting impact.
We all know that Diwali celebrations have a very special significance to Indians everywhere. While there are several reasons for celebrating Diwali the most important one is that it marks the culmination of Lord Rama’s exile, his triumphant return to Ayodhya after courageously fighting Ravana and rescuing Sita. On his return, Ayodhya’s citizens welcomed their Prince home with thousands of glowing oil lamps on a moonless night. The lamps symbolize the victory of good over evil, and Hindus celebrate this story every year by lighting millions of them all over the world. For students everywhere, celebrating the victory of good over evil means being true to your goals and fighting all the temptations that distract you from achieving your objective.
I wish all students a Diwali filled with love and laughter. May this festival bring you endless joy and success. Happy Diwali and an even better New Year to all.
